Celestia1Our Mission Statement: TCHA exists to provide performing arts classes and opportunities to home educated students in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

We currently offer classes for children and students PreK through 12th grade. We also offer special activities throughout the year – a fall musical, homeschool showcases, and outreach events. And this year we plan to showcase our TCHA tutors and parents at a special fundraising dinner in January 2017.

Jen-PicJen Perdue, a MN licensed K-12 music teacher, has been teaching for the past six years. Jen lives in Burnsville, MN with her wonderful husband of four years, Chris, and their eight-month-old daughter, Adalynn (Addie). Jen grew up in Rosemount, MN and was homeschooled from K-10th grade. She loved being homeschooled and hopes to homeschool her own children one day! When Jen was in high school, there weren’t homeschool arts opportunities available in the area, so she enrolled in public school choir and band – eventually enrolling in public school full time.  Jen greatly benefited from the instruction she received from her wonderful music teachers in public school. Much of what she learned from her high school music teachers are things she uses in her own classroom today. Though Jen loved her public school music experiences, she would have loved to share those experiences and opportunities with other homeschoolers. Hoping to give homeschool students the experiences she never had, in 2013 Jen started a 30+ voiced homeschool girls’ choir, Clara Bella. Starting Clara Bella eventually led Jen to form TCHA in the summer of 2014. Jen has a music education degree from the University of Northwestern – St. Paul, where she graduated magna cum laude. After graduation, Jen worked in the music ministries department at Berean Baptist Church in Burnsville where she had the opportunity to help direct the adult Sanctuary Choir, Contemporary Worship Choir, Youth Choir, and lead worship. Jen left her position at Berean in 2011 to expand her private music studio (mainly voice and piano) and pursue other musical opportunities, such as founding TCHA.

CBJen Perdue, a former homeschooler and licensed K-12 music educator (degree from University of Northwestern – St. Paul), began TCHA during the 2013-2014 school year when she started the 30+ voiced homeschooled girls choir, Clara Bella, and a homeschooled Musical Theater Class. During the 2014-2015 school year, Jen expanded TCHA by offering four choirs – reaching over 60 students and 45 families. The last two years, TCHA has met on Thursday afternoons at Hope Church in Apple Valley. The 2015-2016 school year is bringing big changes to TCHA as we are changing the location to South Suburban Evangelical Free Church in Apple Valley, classes will be on Wednesdays during the day, and we are offering several arts classes besides choir.
